Demand Increases For Zero-Lot-Line Homes

Commercial Appeal

January 1996

More and more people are seeking new homes on small, low maintenance lots. Boyle is responding to this demand by developing several new neighborhoods for zero-lot-line, detached homes in individual lots.

“These new zero-lot-line properties provide ‘empty nesters’ with low-maintenance homes and yards that fit their lifestyles better.” Said J. A. Hayden, vice president of residential development for Boyle. “The floor plans and room sizes in these new homes better fit the home buyer’s lifestyle, with the day-to-day living space on the ground floor and large rooms to accommodate plenty of furniture.”

There has been very little to choose from locally in the $100,000 to $250,000 price range. “Most zero-lot-line homes in the Memphis market have been priced either below $100,000 or above $300,000. Many people want this type of home at a more moderate price level.,” Hayden explained.

Beginning this spring, Boyle will be offering several new communities with zero-lot-line, detached homes on individual lots, including:

  • Cordova Green: located next to the Cordova Club Golf Course, with homes starting at $140,000.
  • The Village of Riveredge: located at Walnut Grove and Forest Hill Irene roads, the newest addition to Boyle’s Riveredge community. Homes will be priced from $180,000.
  • The Vineyards: located at Humphreys Boulevard and Riverdale Road in Germantown, priced from $240,000.

Hayden added that all these new communities are in good, convenient locations adjacent t well-established neighborhoods, and all have high architectural standards.
