ECS Planning Fayette County Facility

Evangelical Christian School has purchased 130 acres of property in Fayette County with plans to build a new facility there.

The land is part of Boyle Investment Co.’s Fisherville Farms property on Macon between Fisherville Road and Highway 385.

Exactly what shape the facility will take and when it will be built are uncertain, school president Bryan Miller said Monday.

"It would give us some great flexibility and options for the future," Miller said. "(But) we have not made the decision that we are going to consolidate on that campus."

Now, the middle and high school are housed on the 40-acre campus at 7600 Macon in Cordova. Three lower-school locations are spread around the area.

It’s possible that all schools will be consolidated on the new property, meaning the school would completely leave Shelby County.

However, no timetable has been set for the new project, Miller said. They are just beginning a three-year capital campaign to pay for the land.

Boyle executive vice president Rusty Bloodworth said his company sold the land to ECS for about $1.4 million.

Miller said the school has outgrown the Macon property, particularly in terms of its limited space for athletic facilities.

"We’ve been there for 35 years now. When we moved out to that property, Germantown Road was a two-lane road," he said.

Miller added that the ultimate future of the current property hasn’t been determined.
