– The Collierville Herald –

Danny Sparkman of Collierville and president of Sparkman Home Builders received Vesta Home Show’s prestigious "People’s Choice Award" at a reception on Tuesday of last week at the Memphis Area Home Builders Association.

The award was voted on by the public during the recently completed Vesta Home Show at The Neighborhood of Schilling Farms in Collierville.

Sparkman’s Southern-style home featured a full facade columned front porch, large entry way with columns, an exquisite barreled ceiling, open spaces, and elegant amenities. Sparkman Home Builders had two entries in this year’s Vesta Home Show. The Mulberry, Sparkman’s second home, also received Best Master Suite and third place in Best of Show.

Second place went to Jim McCauley and Company Homes for their entry of the Birch House. Brentwood Builders got third place People’s Choice with their Oak View Hall entry.

"Despite rain and many local events in October, attendance (29,603) was consistently strong," said David Parsons, chairman of this year’s Vesta Home Show. "Those touring had the chance to see some exceptional homes and also to benefit the local building industry and its chosen charity – the International Children’s Heart Foundation."

Vesta winners, which were announced in several categories, were voted on and chosen by professionals from all areas of the building industry. Judges included decorators, architects, association professionals, and builders.

Jim McCauley of Jim McCauley and Company Homes, walked away with seven of the eight categories including Best of Show, Best Special Feature, Best Kitchen, Most Impressive Foyer, Best Home Design, Best Interior Design, and Best Landscape.

His 4,400-square-foot home called the Birch House was designed from the rendering of an old home that was torn down in Collierville.
